What Search Engine Success Looks Like

What Search Engine Success Looks Like.

When you start search engine optimisation or Google Ads (or indeed any form of digital marketing), there are many metrics to review and consider, but ultimately, the goal should be to generate more traffic, leads, and enquiries for your business.

Over the last decade, we have worked with many clients in many different business sectors helping them to achieve just that.

In late 2016 we were contacted by a car leasing business based in the Midlands.

They had been advertising on directories, but as more people now went directly to the search engines like Google, they needed more direct traffic and knew that in order to grow that they had to be on page one of the Google search results.

They operate in a super competitive niche, and getting ranked on page one has historically been difficult for them.

Not only were they competing with other short-term Car Leasing companies but they also had to compete with the actual vehicle manufacturers, including brands like Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Mini, Volkswagen and Volvo.

As you can imagine, these major brands dominate page one of the search results.

We sat down with this client over a cup of Coffee and explained the issues that they were facing and the competitive nature of many of their keywords.

After completing thorough keyword research, in order to find some lower competition search terms, where they could compete better locally, regionally and nationally and in some cases even out rank the manufacturers’ websites.

We increased their Google rankings within 4 to 5 months, and fast forward 9 years, we have increased their Google rankings by over 20,000 positions.

They now have over 200 keywords on page one of Google.

We’ve had to be super flexible too, the car market changes every couple of years, and they now need to be found for vehicle brands in 2025 that they didn’t even have much demand for 9 years ago. When we started working with them, their major focus was Audi, BMW, VW and Volvo, but we’ve now added Kia and Hyundai to the mix as these brands have come on and started making more desirable cars.

Some people search for brand related keywords, for example ‘Volvo Car Leasing’ and other people use more generic non brand related searches like ‘short term car leasing’, ‘expat car leasing’, ‘cheap car leasing’ and even financial related searches including things like ‘non status car leasing’ so we needed to help them generate traffic for many variations of these keywords.

We also provide Google Ads Management services and click fraud protection to this client, which helps them get found for specific keywords on a pay per click basis, where they cannot compete directly with the manufacturer and some of the global Leasing brands.

They have grown substantially as a business and now manage the leasing for hundreds of vehicles across the UK from all of the major car brands.

We’re delighted to have played a part in helping them grow and generate thousands of leads over 9 years – we’ve put together a few case studies and have included one specifically about them too.

This can be a great strategy to use, not just for car leasing companies but for many website owners in many sectors, ultimately, you may have some super competitive keywords and a combination of search engine optimisation and paid ads can be the magic sauce you need.
