Get Found in AI Search
OUR SERVICES
Answer Engine Optimisation helps your business become more visible within AI-generated answers – so when potential customers ask ChatGPT, Google AI, Perplexity or another AI assistant for advice, products or services, your business has a greater opportunity to be found.
People haven't stopped using Google. Far from it. What we are seeing, though, is another type of search becoming part of everyday behaviour.
Someone looking for a solicitor, accountant, builder, hotel or marketing agency might still begin with Google. The next person may open ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity and simply explain what they need.
And they'll often explain it in quite a lot of detail.
Instead of: “Divorce lawyer London”
they might ask: “I'm getting divorced after a ten-year marriage and need advice about protecting my assets and arranging custody of my children. Can you recommend an experienced divorce solicitor in London with good reviews?”
That's a very different search.
The user isn't necessarily looking for a page of links. They're asking for an answer, some guidance and, quite often, a recommendation.
Answer Engine Optimisation is about putting your business in the strongest possible position to become part of that answer.
At Altitude Internet, we've spent more than a decade working with businesses on organic search. During that time we've watched Google change enormously, but the move towards AI-assisted search is one of the more significant shifts we've seen.
We're also already seeing websites we work on being referenced and recommended by AI assistants.
There isn't a magic piece of code that makes that happen, and we'd be very wary of anybody suggesting there is.
In our experience, the businesses giving AI platforms the clearest signals tend to start with the same things that have always mattered in good search marketing: a technically sound website, genuinely useful content, clear expertise and a strong reputation beyond their own domain.
AEO builds on those foundations.
It doesn't replace SEO.

AI platforms need to understand what your business does before they can confidently use it as a source or recommend it to somebody else.
That sounds obvious, but websites often make this surprisingly difficult.
A company might provide five different services but explain only two of them properly. Important expertise can be buried several clicks deep. Company information may be inconsistent across the web. An excellent answer to a common customer question might exist, but be hidden halfway down a page that is otherwise about something entirely different.
Our AEO work looks at the bigger picture.
We consider the content on your website, its structure and technical health, how clearly your expertise is demonstrated and the signals about your business that exist elsewhere online.
There is no single AEO ranking factor and each AI platform works differently. The aim is therefore not to chase one particular model or temporary trick.
We want to build a stronger digital footprint that makes sense to search engines, answer engines and, most importantly, the people looking for what you do.
How does AEO work?
Good AEO starts with good content.
That does not mean producing hundreds of pages written for robots or filling existing pages with awkward questions simply because somebody might type them into ChatGPT.
Quite the opposite.
We look at what your customers genuinely want to know and how those questions relate to your services, products and expertise.
AI searches are often longer and far more conversational than traditional Google searches. Somebody may describe their circumstances, add several requirements and ask for a recommendation in a single prompt. Your website therefore needs enough depth and context for an AI system to work out whether your business is relevant.
Our content team looks for those gaps.
Sometimes the solution is a new page. In other cases, a strong existing page simply needs better information, clearer explanations or a section answering something customers routinely ask your team.
This is where knowing the business matters.
We work with you rather than pretending we know more about your company than you do. You know the questions customers ask, the objections that come up before a sale and the details that separate a straightforward job from a complicated one.
We combine that knowledge with our search experience to create content that is useful enough to deserve visibility in the first place.
You can have excellent content and still make life difficult for search engines.
AEO relies on clarity.
Your website should make it reasonably easy to establish who you are, what you provide, where you operate and how individual pages relate to one another.
We review page structure, headings, navigation and internal links to strengthen those connections. We also look at the technical issues that can prevent important pages from being crawled, indexed or understood properly.
Site speed, mobile usability, duplicate content, broken links and general website health still matter. AEO may be a relatively new phrase, but it doesn't suddenly make the fundamentals irrelevant.
If anything, it makes getting them right more important.
Structured data gives search engines additional context about information on a website.
Used properly, schema can help describe organisations, people, services, reviews and other entities in a format machines can process more easily.
We assess the structured data already present on your website and implement appropriate markup where it adds genuine value.
We don't regard schema as a shortcut to appearing in ChatGPT or Google AI. It isn't.
It's one part of creating a website whose purpose, content and relationships are as clear as possible.
How does AEO work?
Your own website is only one source of information about your company.
That's an important point with AEO.
If you tell the world you're the best company in your sector, that is still you saying it. When customers review you, respected websites mention you, industry organisations recognise you or other credible sources reference your work, the picture becomes much more convincing.
We've seen the value of this first-hand.
Altitude has built more than 1,300 five-star customer reviews, has been recognised as a Google Partner and has regularly been shortlisted at the European Search Awards. Those independent signals help people understand who we are before they ever speak to us.
The same principle applies to our clients.
As part of an AEO strategy, we look beyond the website itself and consider the wider signals supporting your business. Reviews, citations, relevant links, PR coverage, awards, accreditations, case studies and genuine mentions can all contribute towards a clearer and more credible online presence.
Consistency matters too.
If different websites describe your business in different ways, use old company information or reference services you no longer provide, that creates unnecessary ambiguity.
No single mention guarantees an AI recommendation. Taken together, however, strong third-party signals help establish that your business is real, active, experienced and relevant to the subject being discussed.
Complete Strategy
We don’t sell Answer Engine Optimisation as a collection of gimmicks.
It is offered alongside our SEO campaigns because, from what we’re seeing in practice, the foundations are closely connected.
Depending on the website and campaign, our work can include AI search opportunity research, conversational search analysis, existing content optimisation, new content creation, technical SEO, website structure improvements, internal linking, schema and structured data, topical authority development, reputation analysis, competitor research and ongoing visibility checks across relevant AI platforms.
We also look at what is actually happening rather than assuming every industry behaves the same way.
A local service business may have very different opportunities from a national ecommerce company. A solicitor needs different trust signals from a restaurant. The questions customers ask are different too.
That context shapes the campaign.
We use Google Search Console, analytics data and the wider SEO information available to us alongside manual testing and research across AI search experiences. As the platforms develop, the strategy develops with them.
There is no fixed AEO checklist that we can run once and declare the job finished.
Search doesn’t work like that anymore – if it ever did.
AEO is currently available as an addition to our Search Engine Optimisation plans rather than as a standalone service.
There is a straightforward reason for that.
If a website has weak content, poor technical foundations and very little existing authority, adding an “AI optimisation package” on top isn't going to solve the underlying problem.
We would rather fix the foundations first.

For more than twenty years, businesses have built their organic search strategies primarily around Google.
Google still matters enormously, and we don't see traditional SEO suddenly disappearing.
What's changing is the number of places people can go for an answer.
A customer might discover you through a normal Google result this morning, encounter your business in an AI Overview this afternoon and ask ChatGPT for a shortlist of providers tomorrow.
Trying to draw a hard line between “SEO” and “AEO” therefore misses the point.
Both depend heavily on whether your website deserves to be found.
Useful content still matters. Technical quality matters. Reputation matters. Expertise matters. Relevant third-party references matter. Making it very obvious what your company actually does certainly matters.
AEO extends that work into a new search environment.
We have already seen clients' websites being cited, referenced and included in AI-generated answers as a result of the wider SEO and content work being carried out for them. That's encouraging, but we're careful not to overstate what any agency controls.
We can't decide which company ChatGPT recommends tomorrow.
Neither can anybody else outside the platform.
What we can control is the quality, clarity and authority of the information AI systems can discover about your business.
That's where our attention goes.
Search behaviour rarely changes overnight.
It evolves.
We saw it with mobile search. We've seen it with voice search, local results, featured snippets and Google becoming increasingly capable of answering questions directly on the results page.
AI is the next significant stage of that evolution.
It is already appearing in the tools people use every day. Google is integrating AI throughout search, while platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Grok are giving users completely different ways to research and make decisions.
AI assistants are even moving beyond phones and computers. Manufacturers are beginning to integrate them into vehicles and other everyday technology, making conversational search increasingly accessible when people aren't sitting in front of a traditional search page.
For businesses, the sensible response isn't to panic or abandon SEO.
It's to adapt.
We've worked in search since 2014 and one lesson has remained fairly consistent throughout that time: chasing every new trick is rarely a sustainable strategy. Building a genuinely strong website and adapting it as search behaviour changes tends to be a much better one.
That's the approach we're taking with AEO.
We combine what we've learned from more than a decade of SEO campaigns with what we're now seeing across AI-driven search. As those platforms evolve, we'll continue testing, learning and refining how we help our clients become easier to discover.
If you'd like to know whether ChatGPT, Google AI and other answer engines currently understand your business – and what we could improve – talk to our team.
We'll review your website, your existing SEO position and the signals surrounding your business before explaining where we believe the opportunities are.
No promises about being “number one on ChatGPT”.
No mysterious AI switch.
Just a practical strategy designed around where search is heading.
